Meet Gem
Twelve years of grooming, with a quieter approach.
Animals have been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. I started my grooming business from home in 2014, initially teaching myself the foundations before undertaking formal training and later completing my full Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.
In 2019, I opened a busy grooming shop in Whitchurch and went on to run it with a small team. When I became a mum, I closed the shop and moved my business into a newly built grooming salon at home. Having experienced both busy and quiet salon environments, I've realised how much I prefer the calmer, more personal nature of one-to-one grooming.
As a sensitive person myself, I put a lot of care into creating a space that feels calm, patient and reassuring. Grooming can be stressful or overwhelming for some dogs, while others absolutely love the attention. Every dog is an individual, and getting to know their personality, preferences and what helps them feel comfortable is one of my favourite parts of the job.
My lifelong love of animals also led me to establish a realistic pet-portrait business in 2024, while my grooming hours were reduced as I cared for my young daughter. Whether I'm grooming an animal or drawing one, they've always been at the centre of the work I love.
